Official tours—MTK heads
As per invitation from Projekt-21 members, the Director Dr Dawa visited Switzerland on official tour to discuss matters relating to the establishment of a model University of the Men-Tsee-Khang. He presented a paper on the Men-Tsee-Khang’s Model University project to the members. He later had a very good interactive session with the members. The director said that they showed great deal of interest in Men-Tsee-Khang’s project. It is also learnt that they will rework on the project and also on the funding related matters.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama, during a visit to the Switzerland then, also visited the PADMA 28, an independent Swiss company manufacturing PADMA 28—herbal pill based on Tibetan medicine. Inspired by the standard of their work, His Holiness emphasized on possible collaboration work between the PADMA 28 and the Men-Tsee-Khang.
The Director also visited the company on invitation from the administration of the PADMA 28 and met with all their staff members. He had discussions on possible future exchange programme should there be need between the two institutes.
The director’s visit to the Swiss has brought about better understanding on Tibetan medicine that has helped enormously in bridging a gap necessary for further relationships between the members of the Projekt-21 and the Men-Tsee-Khang.
The Deputy Director Dr Tsewang Tamdin & the Branch Director Mr. Tsering Dorjee visited Ladakh on inspection tour to Ladakh Cultural Center and the Choglamsar clinic from 25 July to 4 August.
The two-member team inspected the overall functioning of the Cultural Center and the clinic. They also met all the staff members and gave administrative inputs for better management. During their stay they also went through the accounts of the Cultural Center as well. Changes have also been made in job allocation to the respective staff based on their qualifications and capabilities.
Dr Tamdin accompanied by Cultural Center Director Dr Kunchok Tsering met CMO, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Council; Central Tibetan Administrative (CTA) representative; army personnel; and key members of different organisation. They had good discussions to further their relationships among themselves. Dr Tamdin also gave medical consultations to many patients.
The Director Dr Dawa and the Branch Director Mr. Tsering Dorjee visited Nepal from 16-19 September to inspect a plot intended for purchase.
Apart from their visit to the site, they also inspected the two branch clinics in Kathmandu city. The director then returned back to Delhi and on his way visited Men-Tsee-Khang Exports in Kalkaji. While the branch director stayed back to visit Tuting to inspect construction work and on his way also visited Miao, Tezu, Tenzin Gang, and Tawang clinics. He met all the staff and CTA representative officers of the regions. He later went to Tinsukia and met organizers of the Tinsukia medical camp and visited the site as well before leaving for Dharamsala via Delhi on the 19 September.
The overall tour was a successful one—having met all the staff of respective clinics and opportunity to listen and talk to them—the director and the branch director had a good tour.
The Registrar along with Dr Tsultrim Kalsang and Science Lecturer Mr. Tsewang Gyatso visited Kolkata from 26 November to 4 December to inspect Sunrise & Grow Green Bioscience Pvt. Ltd for feasibility study for a joint collaboration work on medicinal cultivation project.
The three-member visiting team met with respective staff members of the Sunrise & Grow Green Bioscience Pvt. Ltd and had lengthy talks on possible collaboration work with the Men-Tsee-Khang. It is found that both the firms are very keen in the collaboration work with the Men-Tsee-Khang.
The findings during this feasibility tour will be forwarded to the Governing Body of the Men-Tsee-Khang for further procedures.
Men-Tsee-Khang sincerely hopes that the project will not only help in the conservation project but will also benefit farmers to generate extra income on medicinal cultivation provided the projection of the project goes in the right direction.
