Dear
members & friends of the Men-Tsee-Khang,
Tashi Deleg and greetings! Time has come to say Thuk-jhe-che
(thank you) to you all. I am now transferred to the Department
of Audit, Central Tibetan Administration, as its Secretary.
I deem it a great honour and privilege for having had
an opportunity to work at the Men-Tsee-Khang, such a first-class
institute of Traditional Tibetan medicine and Astro sciences.
My service here has been a challenging and satisfying
experience. The last 3 years have been very active in
preserving, involving and imparting the knowledge of Traditional
Tibetan medicine and Astro sciences to younger generations
and maintaining its quality and unique identity to the
best of our capability. I am especially grateful to all
the experienced doctors, Astro science unit and staffs
for their hard work and dedication in providing better
health services to a large community, which I am sure
has been a great contribution.
I am glad that Dr Dawa la, the present General Secretary,
has been appointed as my successor w.e.f. 20 December
2004. I have full confidence that he will have the same
opportunity and the experience in his endeavour to work
for further developments. I also welcome Dr Tsewang Tamdin,
the Director of the Pharmaceutical Department, for his
appointment to the post of the Deputy Director of the
Men-Tsee-Khang. My best wishes for success to both of
them.
The institute’s achievement in its goals and objective
has been possible largely with the blessings and guidance
of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the guidelines of Kashag
(Cabinet) that instill in us a great inspiration. Moreover,
it is mainly due to the hard work, dedication and tireless
efforts of the entire staff, as well as the generous help
and continued support from our members, friends and well-wishers,
who will be remembered always with gratitude.
I earnestly request all the members, friends and well-wishers
to extend the same cooperation and support to my successor
and also contribute effectively to further the Institute’s
activities and mission for further developments.
Thanking you again for the kind co-operation and continued
support in the preservation, promotion and propagation
of the unique cultural heritage of Traditional Tibetan
medicine and Astro Sciences.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy, healthy
and prosperous New Year – 2005.
With my warmest greetings and regards
Samdup Lhatse (Mr.)
Outgoing Director
