Message from the new
registrar
On
January the 4th, 2005 the Governing Body of Men-Tsee-Khang
repose in me their trust by appointing me as the Registrar
of Men-Tsee-Khang. It is no doubt a very big challenge for
me yet I am determined to serve the humanity through this
responsibility with renewed will power and fortitude. Besides,
I have in the panel of our staff and colleagues, highly
capable and trustworthy persons and I am sure that I can
take for granted their sincerity and cooperation as we have
all joined hands together to a common goal.
Tibetan Medicine and Astrology is one among the most ancient
traditions of humanity. Such a rich and profound treasures
of knowledge unfolds to the world at large quite recently
when we arrived in India as refugees in 1959 and had established
ourselves, in a well-organized manner, to preserve our own
culture and tradition under the able and indomitable leadership
of His Holiness The XIV Dalai Lama. With growing numbers
of our beneficiaries, we have now instituted research works
on Tibetan Medicine through scientific means under collaborations
with renowned research institutes. Our research on diabetes
mellitus has been very successful.
People of all walks of life had rendered us their selfless
support and help, guided by the principles of humanity due
to which we are now able to cater to the healthcare needs
of patients every year through branch medical clinics in
India and abroad. The infrastructure and the number of doctors
and staff of our institute have increased many folds as
com-pared to that of 1961 when we started our institute
with a dozen of staff in a single hut. It is thus apparent
that we would not have achieved what we are now without
the help and support of all those friends and well-wishers.
I am therefore grateful to all our friends and supporters
and wish you all very good health and spirit in the years
to come. As the sky has no limit, any further suggestions,
help and support to enhance our activities in the field
of healthcare services to the mankind shall always be welcomed.
Long Live His Holiness The Dalai Lama.
