Lecture and consultation
tour to Japan
A two-member team from Men-Tsee- Khang, Mr. Dorjee Wangyal
the Director of Astrological Department and Dr. Penpa Tsering
a researcher of the Sorig Literary Research Department,
visited Tokyo, Japan for medical & astrological lectures
& consultations from the 9th to the 23rd of August.
The visit was organised by the Tokyo Liaison Office of H.H.
the Dalai Lama in association with Men-Tsee-Khang.
The two-member team gave medical and astrological lectures
to 50 and 20 people on the 12th and the 19th of August respectively.
During their seven day medical and astrological consultation
camp, the doctor gave medical consultations to 45 patients
whereas, the astrologer gave astrological consultations
to 54 people. They reported to have spent more than half
an hour per consultation. In addition, the team also made
available information brochures and newsletters to interested
people thus creating awareness about Men-Tsee-Khang. They
reported that the tour had helped the people of Japan in
knowing more on the ancient traditional science of Tibetan
medicine and astrology. Since Japan has their own traditional
astrological system, the Japanese were showing particular
keeness in understanding more on the Tibetan astrological
system. Despite a lower turnout for medical consultations,
the doctor said the people in general exhibited a high level
of eagerness in learning Tibetan medicine.
Going by the level of interest and enthusiasm shown by the
visiting people, the team believes, it will be a wise decision
to organise such a tour in the future which will largely
help in imparting knowledge of Tibetan healing science and
astrology to the people of Japan.
The administration thanks the Liaison Office of H.H. the
Dalai Lama for their hospitality during the team’s
stay in Tokyo. We also take this opportunity to thank the
officials for delightfully accepting to organise such tour
