Activities of MTK from 2004-2005
16-29 April 2004:
Dr. Pema Dorjee, the then advisor to the Research Department
visits Uzbekistan on a medical tour and gave medical consultation
to 121 patients.
14-24 April 2004:
Dr. Thokmey Paljor, rGyud-bZhi translation section, on invitation
from Ms. Anne Harila, Friends of Tibet, Norway, visited
Norway and gave medical consultation to 60 patients.
4 May to 27 June 2004:
Dr. Pema Dorjee visits North Eastern States of Tibetan settlements
and gave medical consultation to 3,400 patients. He also
gave dietary and behavioural advice at most of the settlements.
10 May to 14 June 2004:
Dr. Kalsang Dorjee of Pharmaceutical Department and Dr.
Tsultrim Kalsang of Materia Medica Department and their
team of 5-member visits five different regions in south
Sikkim and gave medical consultations to 1,719 patients.
19-30 May 2004:
Dr. Dawa Dolma, Director of Research Department visits Kyung
Hee University, South Korea, to attend ethnic medical conference.
She later visits the Bureau of Tibet, Japan, and gave medical
consultation to 30 patients there.
26 June to 2 July 2004:A team of expertise headed by Dr.
Dawa, the then General Secretary, Director of Herbal Product
Research Department Dr. Dawa, Dr. Penpa Tsering and Mr.
Tsewang Gyatso visits Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar,
to assess and seek guidance for the proposed Medical University
of the institute.
15-29 July 2004:
Dr. Pema Dorjee visits Tashkent, Uzbekistan on invitation
from Mrs. Murhabat Zakhidova for a medical tour. The doctor
gave consultation to 932 patients.
21-31 July 2004:
Dr. Tenzin Namdul of Research Department, on invitation
from an active Tibet Support Group member Mr. Hasmukh Devani,
visits Nairobi, Kenya, and gave medical consultation to
56 patients.
12-28 August 2004:
Dr. Tenzin Namdul, Dr. Chenga Lhamo, Dr. Dechen Choedon
and their team of 6-member visits Sihor on medical camp
in co-ordination with Rotary Foundation – Sihor. The
team gave medical consultation to 522 patients in Sihor
and Amreli in Gujarat.
19-30 August 2004:
As part of the routine mobile clinic programme of the institute,
the Cultural Centre, Ladakh, visits 16 different remote
steppes (Changthang) in Ladakh and gave medical consultations
to the remotest of the communities in entire Ladakh region.
15-17 September 2004:
Organizes lecture-cum-seminar on Western medicine in Dharamsala.
Prof. Klaus Jork, Dr. Katrin Jaeger, Dr. Christophe Kern
and Dr. Sybill Butzke were the resource persons. All the
doctors stationed in Dharamsala attended the meet.
15 September to 7 October 2004:
Dr. Tenzin Legsang and team of 3-member visits 5 different
regions of Sikkim on a medical tour. The team gave medical
consultations to 1,342 patients.
14-31 October 2004:
Dr. Tenzin Deche and Astrologer Mr. Phurbu Tsering visits
Moscow on invitation from the Bureau of Tibet, Moscow. They
participated in the exhibition and gave lectures and interviews.
17-30 November 2004:
Dr. Tenzin Namdul visits Nairobi on invitation from Mr.
Hasmukh Dewani and gave medical consultation to 64 patients
and gave introductory lectures to the public.
18-31 December 2004:
Dr. Pema Dorjee, Dr. Tenzin Namdul and their team of 5-member
visits Mumbai and Gujarat on a medical tour and gave medical
consultations to 798 patients.
Dr. Passang Dhondup and his team of 2-member visits Vishakapatnam
on medical tour organized by Mrs. Vijaylaxmi and Nagarai.
The team toured three times to the city and collectively
gave medical consultation to 361 patients.
