Function marks to felicitate New Deputy Director

Wednesday, 27 September: Men-Tsee-Khang administration yesterday felicitated new Deputy Director Dr. Namgyal Tsering with an official function to mark the day at Men-Tsee-Khang College hall after 4 p.m. All the staff members of the Dharamsala based headquarters gathered to honour him.

On behalf of the Men-Tsee-Khang administration, the Director Dr. Dawa adorned Khatak (traditional white scarf) to the Deputy Director. Likewise, the Registrar on behalf of all the staff and students of Men-Tsee-Khang gave Khatak to him. This was followed by all the heads of the various departments situated at Dharamsala who also gave Khatak to wish him all the very best in his new job.

The Director Dr. Dawa in his opening statement during the function introduced Dr. Namgyal Tsering, the new incumbent Deputy Director of the Men-Tsee-Khang, and gave best wishes to him. He also made clear on the procedures of election to more than 200 staff and students gathered to mark this function. This appointment came into effect in the wake of resignation forwarded by the former Deputy Director Dr. Tsewang Tamdin earlier this September. The Director said that he is thankful to Dr. Tamdin for his assistance, commitment and decisiveness with which he said the administration has achieved many important work during the two-year his services as Deputy Director.

New Deputy Director followed the Director’s address, appealed to all the staff members to cooperate in all the administration work. He welcomed constructive suggestion than finger-pointing the work of the administration. He believes the institute is like a huge family and all the staff: the family members. Therefore, everyone should think rightfully and work towards the betterment of the institute will ultimately benefit the staff themselves. He strongly feels that he has the backing of the doctors and astrologers in improving the cultural aspects of Tibetan medicine and astrology, without which he genuinely feels the work shall not achieve much. In his concluding speech, Dr. Namgyal Tsering requested everyone to be aware of their duty alongside their rights.

The function ended with a word of thanks from the Registrar Mr. Tsering Phuntsok. He thanked both the Director and the Deputy Director for their impressive speeches and believed that all the staff members will put all of them in practise in their daily work. Taking this opportunity he also wished Dr. Namgyal Tsering all the best in his new work.

The function ended with prayers to the medicine Buddha and all the renowned physicians who sacrificed their entire life for the preservation and promotion of the ancient science of healing.
