Dr. Namgyal Tsering becomes new Deputy Director of Men-Tsee-Khang
Wednesday, September 20: Dr. Namgyal Tsering, the Principal of the Tibetan Medical & Astrological Institute, has been appointed the new Deputy Director of Men-Tsee-Khang w.e.f. 20 September.
Under the article 27 of Men-Tsee-Khang’s Memorandum of Association, an elected two-member staff chaired by another member directly appointed by the Governing Body will forward a list of probables to the Governing Body who will then select one for the said post. The three-member search committee this time was headed by Mr. Samdup Lhatse, former Director of the Men-Tsee-Khang, accompanied by Dr. Penpa Tsering and Mr. Tsering Dorjee. As per the rules and regulations the Governing Body members proposed Dr. Namgyal Tsering’s name for the post of Deputy Director during their 55th meeting that took place on 14 September. Following this announcement the administration sent an official circular declaring Dr. Namgyal Tsering the chosen one from amongst the lists forwarded by the search committee.
Dr. Namgyal Tsering is one of the senior doctors of the Men-Tsee-Khang. He served the institute for more than 25 years upholding various responsibilities. Prior to his appointment as the Principal of the Tibetan Medical & Astrological College, Dr. Namgyal Tsering served as the Director of the Pharmaceutical Department and the Director of the Branch Department. He is now the 2nd elected Deputy Director after Dr. Tsewang Tamdin’s resignation from the post earlier this September. Dr. Tsewang Tamdin is currently on personal leave for six-months from the office.
