The 14th Batch Medical students and the 7th Batch Astrological students completed their final examination on November 17, 2007. Their examination commenced from October 15, 2007.
In the 14th Batch, there were 22 medical students comprising 11 Tibetan males, 8 Tibetan females, 1 Mongolian female, 1 Buryat male and 1 Japanese male. Among the 22 students, one of the female student was from Buddhist Dialectics, Ladakh who came to appear for the final examination.
In the 7th Batch, there were 12 astrological students comprising of 5 Tibetan males, 6 Tibetan females and 1 Mongolian male.
Seven of the medical students (5 Tibetan males, 1 Tibetan female and 1 Japanese male) appeared for the rGyud-gSum (Three Tantra) Recitation Examination from November 13 to November 17, 2007.
On completion of their academic session, the students will be entitled to a 2-months winter vacation. They will need to report in March and will undergo a one-year internship in the respective Men-Tsee-Khang branch clinics. After completing their internship, they become qualified Tibetan doctors and Tibetan Astrologers who will then choose the specific job that they would like to work.
It is mandatory that every batch of medical and astrological students after five-year academic session receives an audience from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This year, the 14th Batch Medical students and the 7th Batch Astrological students received an audience from His Holiness on November 7, 2007. During the audience, His Holiness advised the outgoing students to be sincere and compassionate, indulge more on exchange programs with other systems of healings and continue the process of learning and gaining more experience.
