Restorative Yoga Training.

Together with the 56th founding Anniversary of Men-Tsee-Khang on 23 March 2017, a restorative Yoga training was initiated as a preventive measure and engaging in better health condition among the people in Tibetan society. This Yoga programme mainly focuses on elderly people who do not engage in daily activities because of their age as Yoga helps to rejuvenate or restore and play crucial role in maintaining a healthy body and mind. It was also open to anyone interested to join the training.  Dr. Penpa Tsering, Yoga Trainer received his training from Pramarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh two years ago.

The event took place at Lha Gyari ground at 3:00 pm in the afternoon. The Chief Guest Mr. Dawa Rinchen, the Deputy Head of Tibetan Welfare office, Dharamsala graced the event along with the Mr. Tashi Tsering Phuri, the Director of Men-Tsee-Khang.

More than 80 people, old and young especially from Jampaling Old Age Home at Lha Gyari ground and others in the vicinity of Dharamsala including media persons attend the gathering. The opening speech was addressed by the Director followed by an Introduction to Yoga to the public by Dr. Penpa Tsering. The Chief Guest, Mr. Dawa Rinchen highlighted the importance of Yoga in relation with the general health of the public.

Men-Tsee-Khang distributed free Yoga dress and Yoga books translated into Tibetan by Dr. Penpa Tsering to around hundred people. Dr. Penpa Tsering taught preliminary Yoga along with Medicine Buddha visualization and Mantra for half an hour.
The Yoga event continued for eight days from 24 March to 1 April, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 p.m at Lha Gyari ground. More than 60 people participated in Yoga workshop.

With the sheer benefit and general health being of public as well as to promote better preventive measures, Yoga team consisting of Dr. Penpa Tsering and Mr. Tsering Dhondup, will visit other Tibetan settlement in the coming days. Those interested in maintaining a good and healthy body are welcome to participate in this Yoga Training.
