Workshop on Western astrology held

A three-member team consisting of Ms. Maritta, Mr. Bernd and Mr. Reina gave workshop on Western astrology to the English speaking Tibetan astrologers of the MTK here in the afternoons of 19, 20, 26 and 27 October.

The course attendees were taught on the methods of Western chart making. They were also taught through particular software, later given to the institute, to find out the positions of the planets and others from the Western perspective—using computer. They donated the astrological department, a detailed almanac of 2006 written in German language. The resource persons have also given two CDs containing programme on astrology to the Department, closely related to the topics of the workshop.

The visiting resource persons expressed their concern to organise better workshops in the future in continuation of the same. The director of astrological department Mr. Dorjee Wangyal, in his vote of thanks, also requested for the continuation of such workshop.

Mr. Phurbu Tsering, an astrologer, and coordinator of the workshop writes, “The workshop benefitted me in learning astronomy from their (Western) concept and comparing our ephemeris with theirs by using such software”. “Definitely, we need that kind of courses or even higher standard ones, if possible. But this is only my idea, I don't know what others have to say on it”. Adds Mr. Phurbu Tsering.

The workshop attendees clearly envisioned their open-mindedness for such analytical studies that will surely benefit them.

The administration thanks the three-member team for the workshop and also for their concern to continue such workshops in the future.
