COURSE DETAILS AND REGISTRATION/FEE ASPECTS

Course Location: -

The course will be held in the Men-Tsee-Khang Cultural Centre in Leh, Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir. Ladakh, the Land of Passes (97782 sq. km) is situated in the extreme north of India. It is one of the most elevated region (Altitude 3900 m) of the world with the mountain oriented in parallel chains of distinct ranges. It lies between 35 degree to 36 degree north latitude and 76 degree to 79 degree longtitude. It is separated North by Karakorum mountains, to the East lies the Tibetan districts, to the South the Indian State of Himachal Pradesh and to the West the great Kashmir valley.

The landscape, climate, customs, housing structures and language of Ladakh are similar to Tibet, and about 90% of the local inhabitants follow Buddhism and Tibetan culture. Due to the existing unique Tibetan culture and Buddhism, many tourists and scholars from different parts of the world flock there during its peak season. In essence, Ladakh plays a vital role in promoting the diverse cultural aspects of Tibet to non-Tibetans who are attracted to its various cultural institutions and ancient Buddhist monasteries.

Registration and Fee: -<
The course will be taught in forty 1 ½ hour sessions over a ten day period (Please see attached schedule for the session topics). Participants must attend all the sessions. The total payment for 40 sessions is Euro 400/- per person. Registration for the course will be taken on first come first served basis. To confirm your registration, payment must be received in advance. Please kindly note that the Course fee are not refundable. Checks or International Money Orders should be made out to Men-Tsee-Khang (State Bank of India, Account # 01150065237, Swift Code # SBININBBA277). Please do not insert cash in the envelope. Men-Tsee-Khang is not responsible if lost in transit.

Hotel Accommodation: -
Course participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation/fooding and for the payment of their bills directly to the hotel. Men-Tsee-Khang can help co-ordinate lodgings for those who require assistance but should inform atleast 45 days in advance due to the peak season during that time. Please mention on the registration form the Class and Plan of the room you require. Incase of cancellation, the individual participant will be responsible to pay for the cancellation charges to the hotel.

Please Note: Tea and snacks will be provided during the course breaks. Lunch will be served at Men-Tsee-Khang Cultural Centre at a cost of Euro 4/- per meal, payable in person.

Upon completion of the course, a letter of participation will be issued to each participants.

The Ladakh Festival: -
The Annual Ladakh Festival is a fifteen days long festival starting on 1st September and ending on 15th September. It is an event organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Department to promote and show case rich culture and tradition of Ladakh and it also aims to extent the tourism period in the region, which usually ends by the end of August. The festival starts with a grand cultural procession from Chanspa (about 1 Km Distance from the city) to Leh Polo Ground. The procession shows different Ladakhi cultural dresses, including nomadic areas of Ladakh with their diverse folk dance. The function at the Polo Ground includes speeches from the dignitaries and traditional cultural programmes from students and villagers. During the festival, stalls are put up to display things that are produced, grown and are popular in the region.
